Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal (120 min) 

Depart Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal and head to Mt. Fuji by bus. This tour follows the same itinerary as the 1-Day Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour.
(Chuo Expressway, or Tomei Expressway).

Fuji Visitor Center (20 min)

Learn about the historic eruptions, nature, and culture surrounding Japan's most iconic mountain, Mt. Fuji. There are many videos and panel displays to interact with and enjoy!

Remarks: If Fuji Visitor Center is closed or the tour is behind schedule due to traffic, Fuji Visitor Center may be omitted from the itinerary.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station (30 min)

Start the ascent up Mt. Fuji via the Fuji Subaru Line. Climb 2,300 meters (7,546 ft) above sea level for breathtaking views from above the clouds.

Remarks: The tour will not be cancelled or refunded even if Mt. Fuji is not fully visible due to weather conditions.

Enjoy a Japanese-style lunch.

 

Lake Ashi Cruise (15 min) 

Go for a sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi. The crater lake was born from a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago and provides postcard views of Mt. Fuji from various angles.

Remarks: Lake Ashi Cruise or Hakone Komaga-take Ropeway may be omitted, due to traffic, weather conditions, or other operational concerns. If either or both are omitted the following alternatives may be used: Hakone-en Aquarium, Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani valley, Hakone Sightseeing Cruise (pirate ship), Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Sekisho (checking station) remains, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise, Lake Kawaguchi Ropeway, or Itchiku Kubota Art Museum. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded for such itinerary alteration. The English interpreter guide will make decisions regarding itinerary alterations.

 

Mt. Komagatake Ropeway (50 min) 

Spend a total of 50 minutes including a 7-minute cableway ride up to the peak from Hakone-en.

Remarks: Hakone Komagatake Ropeway may be omitted from the itinerary due to heavy traffic. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded in such cases.

Take a cableway ride up to the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya (original shrine) that nestles at the mountaintop.

From Odawara Station to Kyoto Station (There may be a transfer at Shizuoka Station or Nagoya Station) 

Go to Kyoto by Hikari or Kodama Shinkansen
Trip time: 120 to 180 minutes

Remarks: A train transfer at Shizuoka or Nagoya station may be necessary. If so, a staff member will assist participants in transferring. If the tour runs late due to traffic congestion, etc, and misses the scheduled train, transportation from Odawara to Kyoto will be on non-reserved seats on the Shinkansen, and participants may not be able to sit down.

 

Kyoto Station

Hotels in Kyoto City 

Participants will be taken by taxi from Kyoto Station to their hotels. An English-speaking staff member will guide participants to the taxi, but will not ride along in the taxi.

Remarks: The arrival time in Kyoto may be later than scheduled, around 22:00 - 23:00, due to traffic congestion and other reasons.

This tour follows the same itinerary as the 1-Day Kyoto & Nara Tour. The entire tour is conducted by bus.

 

Nijo Castle (50 min)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.

Remarks: Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the New Year's holidays. On these days, the tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple.

 

Kinkaku-ji Temple (45 min)

Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful lake.

 

Kyoto Imperial Palace (from Mondays to Fridays) (40 min)

Entry of international visitors generally require application in advance, but participants of this tour can enter only by going through a brief procedure.

Remarks: On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. The same is true of the period before and after the public viewing of Kyoto Imperial Palace in spring and autumn, May 14 - 17 due to the Aoi Festival, year-end New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event.

 

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays) (40 min)

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the substitute for Kyoto Imperial Palace on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

Remarks: On Jan. 25, Apr. 25, Jul. 25 and Oct. 25, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will be visited instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

Head to Nara via the Nara Keinawa Expressway

 

Nara Park & Todai-ji Temple (Great Buddha) (60 min)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this is the symbol of the Nara Period and one of the world's largest wooden structure. Its huge main hall and bronze Great Buddha are impressive to behold.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine (40 min)

This Nara Period shrine is designated as a World Heritage Site. The deer of Nara Park are thought to be the shrine messengers.

Remarks: At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.

 

Nara Nagomikan (20 min)

The largest souvenir shop in Nara. Enjoy yourself in this spacious shop and look for the perfect souvenir.

Remarks: The tour may not visit Nara Nagomikan if it is closed or due to traffic conditions.

Remarks:

  1. This is a special tour for international visitors. Please understand that residents of Japan cannot make bookings for this tour.
  2. If the minimum number of participants (1) is not met by 20 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be cancelled.
  3. On Day 1, large baggage such as suit cases will be transported separately from Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal to hotels in Kyoto City. (One article of standard size luggage per customer will be transported free of charge. Any additional items will incur a fee of JPY 2,200 per article, which will need to be paid on the morning of departure at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal.) Luggage will arrive at hotels on the same day that it is sent. However, please note that delivery times cannot be guaranteed.
  4. The arrival time to Kyoto after the tour on Day 1 may be between 22:00 and 23:00 or later depending on traffic conditions.
  5. The trip from Odawara to Kyoto on Day 1 may require a train transfer midway at Shizuoka or Nagoya station. If so, a staff member will assist participants in transferring. If the tour runs late due to traffic congestion, etc, and misses the scheduled train, transportation from Odawara to Kyoto will be on non-reserved seats on the Shinkansen, and participants may not be able to sit down.
  6. If you would like a vegetarian menu, please inform us at the time of reservation.

About Day 1 Itinerary (Mt. Fuji & Hakone Tour)

  1. GPS-equipped audio guides are available in Chinese and Spanish. Please make a request when booking if you would like an audio guide. There are a limited number of audio guides available, so it may not be possible to provide one for each participant.
  2. Hakone Komagatake Ropeway may be omitted due to heavy traffic. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded for such an itinerary alteration.
  3. If Fuji Visitor Center is closed or the tour is behind schedule due to traffic, Fuji Visitor Center may be omitted from the itinerary.
  4. If the Fuji Subaru Line to Mt. Fuji's 5th Station is closed due to icy roads, the tour will be taken as high as possible.
  5. Mt. Fuji's 5th station is typically 10 to 15 degrees Celsius colder than Tokyo. On tours from autumn to spring, please bring a coat and other warm clothing.
  6. The tour will not be cancelled or refunded even if Mt. Fuji is not fully visible due to weather conditions.
  7. Lake Ashi Cruise or Hakone Komaga-take Ropeway may be omitted, due to traffic, weather conditions, or other operational concerns.   2. Please note that before entering the Kyoto Imperial Palace you will be required to fill out a form with your personal information such as your full name, sex, age, and nationality. (The form will be provided on the tour day.)
  3. On Jan. 25, Apr. 25, Jul. 25 and Oct. 25, Nishi Hongan-ji Temple will serve as the alternative for Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.
  4. On Tuesdays (Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December, Nijo Castle is closed. The tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.
  5. At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.
