The Japanese railway network is extremely convenient and highly efficient. JR Group railways are proud of their international reputation for frequent service, punctuality, high speed and safety. Travel by train is also the ideal way to discover Japan. You can enjoy the views of mountains, forests, lakes, highland, the sea and ordinary Japanese people. The Japan Rail Pass offers an incredible economical way to travel throughout Japan by trains.

A JAPAN RAIL PASS cannot be purchased inside Japan.

You must purchase an Exchange Order before you enter Japan and exchange the Order to receive your JR PASS at an applicable JR station that has a JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange office. An Exchange Order must be turned in for a JAPAN RAIL PASS within three months of the date the Order was issued. There are two types of JAPAN RAIL PASS: Green (for superior-class Green cars), and Ordinary. Each of these types is available as a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day PASS. The validity period of a JR PASS is 7, 14, or 21 consecutive days beginning on the date the PASS is first used. The actual cost in South African Rand (ZAR) is calculated at the time the Exchange Order is issued.
